Summer Sports Performance Training for College AthletesSession rates: Sessions will begin with dynamic warm-up with active stretching and movement which activate muscle groups that will be targeted to perform specific movements throughout the training session. This will be followed by 30 minutes of movement which encompasses speed and agility techniques and development of overall strength and power. Plyometrics will also be used to create explosive power and quickness. Use of Olympic style lifting will be incorporated as part of the training modules to help build power and quick twitch muscle fibers for total body strength. Session speed goals will be to develop faster start speeds (0-20 yd speed), proper body mechanics including body positioning, proper arm swing, knee drive and foot placement. This training leads to better 40 yard dash performance and more explosive ability which makes you faster in any sport. Fast starts translate to that extra edge in athletics. Agility skills will be used to improve foot speed, reaction time, quickness and lateral movement. Ladders, hurdles and cone drills will be implemented to help develop change in directional speed. Strength building will be accomplished by use of weight lifting modules which will change day to day. These exercises will be designed to build muscle strength and muscle endurance. The result of this comprehensive training will give college athletes improved speed, strength and agility for better athletic performance.
